The 2000 Annual Technical Session and Meeting was held in Memphis, Tennessee, July 24 - 26, 2000.
The Conference began with a special session, dedicated to Dr. Lynn S. Beedle, in honor of his lifetime acheivements and retirement. A plaque was presented to Dr. Beedle and the Lynn S. Beedle Award was established by the Executive Committee.
Dr. Reidar Bjorhovde was proud to present the first Sarada M. and Raju A. Vinnakota Award to Mr. Brian Chen of University of Texas, Austin for his paper written with Prof. Joseph Yura titled "Top Flange Lateral Bracing of Steel Box Girders". The Award was established in 1997 by Prof. Ramulu Vinnakota, who was very pleased with the high quality of inaugural competitors. The expectation of excellence for future Vinnakota submissions was set by four outstanding papers and presentations. Thanks go to Prof. Vinnakota for making this award possible.
